Confession: we were the ones to call it sour to prepare folks that this wasn't like the imported ones from China or Taiwan but this time around, they aren't too sour... it's one of the many citruses we didn't know we had and we struggle to identify. When we ask the farmers, produce are identified as orange, lemon, green lemon, green lemon pa rin (kahit mas maliit at iba ang amoy) or native if it's smaller. Anyway these seasonal items really help the farmers income-wise and we suppose they offer more reason to keep the trees. (If we had a market for aratilis maybe those wouldn't have been chopped down.) We haven't moved towards planting more but that would be a logical next step for items that we value.
On to the kitchen.. we've made a delightful bittersweet marmalade with these with @meandmyvegmouth. Brandied and with chia. (Use the seeds for pectin) For the 2-3 pieces in your tampipi, you can zest it, make an orange-tahini dressing to go with the gorgeous salad greens this time of year. Or you can squeeze it unto your breakfast yacon for a crunchy citrus cleanse like @chichajo@toyoeatery has used our citrus confusion/ collection to flavor their iced teas! @purpleyamph is coming up with a sorbet combination with coffee flowers we believe. When life gives us citrus, welcome the pucker and make all sorts of things!
